The Miscoded Linger
I have been experimenting and tinkering with open source electronics to create kinetic works such as Miscoded Linger. In this latest adaptation, the kinetic installation responds to the presence of a viewer, activated by a motion sensor and fashioned from old disused car parts, microprocessors and motors, which control the swinging movements of the suspended arms that move in random swirling motions. The idea of a sentient machine obeying a code of order that is ultimately controlled by its maker, is unable to be truly free, yet appear free willed and unrestrained in itself as an object personified, in time and space.

WOOD: REPURPOSED
“There is nothing in the nature quite as helpful to
man as a tree.” opined by Eric Rutkow, an environmentalist. Yet the
very existence and demise of trees can be easily forgotten. This
series of works from felled Khaya trees embraces the audience with its
beauty in touch,
movement, sound and smell – a fitting memory of its being.
Bringing artistic functionality of these reclaimed
wood to the fore, Swee Siong’s investigation of the medium manifested
in a series of mobile sculptures that are modular,
transformative and adaptive to different settings as well as interactive to the
viewer.

Large Ground Art Installation
The artwork is a mural painting creatd by the residents that will transform into an LED lighted artwork when in darkness.
It is a celebration scene in which our Singapore national icon the Merlion is gushing out extravagantly a myriad stream of 3D boxes. These are opening up windows releasing out fascination and wonders. In the night, the artwork will be lighted up with firework patterns of colours pulsating out from the LED pixels.

National Day Celebration 2015
The idea is having the community and the residents of Taman Jurong to design the art work and also expressing their love for SG in the Golden Jubilee National Day celebration. The paper planes are flying freely in the blue sky with clean water and lush greenery and the rainbow symbolises our hopes for a better future

The SEA Games Torch Up! Project
I believe that my art could provide a functional platform to
interact with the public. The SEA Games Torch Up! Project will give me a great
opportunity to work with a keen group of Singaporeans that can show their
talents to the rest of the people. I am a mediator to make these happen.
This is a project of Art, Design, craft and Electronics. Most
important it wish to express the individual dreams of Singaporeans in an
interactive way. Simple art workshops will be organised to engage the
participants to create their artworks in a variety of art mediums that is installed
in the light sculpture.
