The Miscoded Linger
I have been experimenting and tinkering with open source electronics to create kinetic works such as Miscoded Linger. In this latest adaptation, the kinetic installation responds to the presence of a viewer, activated by a motion sensor and fashioned from old disused car parts, microprocessors and motors, which control the swinging movements of the suspended arms that move in random swirling motions. The idea of a sentient machine obeying a code of order that is ultimately controlled by its maker, is unable to be truly free, yet appear free willed and unrestrained in itself as an object personified, in time and space.
